Pleasant Valley Baptist Joy Group held their annual fish fry on Thursday, September 21, with 50 members in attendance.   Bill Lambert, Joy Group Leader, opened the meeting and recognized those members celebrating birthdays and anniversaries and treated them to a choice of boxed candy as their gift.

The new PVBC pastor, Rev. David Marshall, was unable to attend the meeting because of an out of town funeral, but the members were very pleased to have his wife, Briana, and children, Isabela and Elijah in attendance.  Also given a warm welcome was former transitional pastor, Rev. Ed Hurst and his wife, Juanita.  The group then enjoyed a delicious meal of fish and all the trimmings prepared by Larry Lee and his helpers.

After the meal, Joy Group Leader, Sandra Lambert, played a video of a little girl telling the biggest fish story in the bible, the story of Jonah and the whale.  In this video, the little girl expertly tells the story of Jonah from chapter 1 through chapter 4.  Members enjoyed this entertaining presentation and afterward reflected on the truths of repentance and restoration illustrated in the story of Jonah.

The meeting was dismissed by Transitional Pastor Ed Hurst who gave some final remarks to the group.  Members are now looking forward to their holiday meeting on Thursday, November 30, which will feature a catered meal and special guest speaker, Pastor David Marshall.
